Kindle plush by DragonCid Kindle plush by DragonCid
Yup, a Kindle plush.

I still am not taking any orders for plushies btw if you are wondering. I just had to make this one, partly because I bought the fabric for it ages ago and I also wanted to try and improve on sewing a bit. Couple different things on this one: Iron-on transfer eyes, and she is not pose-able so she is stuck in the sitting position.

Sadly no wing-a-lings yet, I ran out of fabric. =(

I know many of you want me to make a tutorial explaining how I make these dragon plushes and I'm not stingy with the info im just terrible at explaining it. >_<;; I would give you guys the pattern but each dragon I make has a different one, plus the pieces are so big I can't just scan them in.

You could always make smaller versions of the patterns and the people who want to use it could reference it. Or take it to walmart to get a poster sized/blown up version of it for immediate use.

How you do the feet and hands?

It's pretty simple, the whole leg and middle toe are one piece, the other two toes are just hand sewn onto the sides of the middle toe.

Works okay that way with fleece because it covers the stitches, can't say how it might work for other fabrics though. The claws were made from Fimo and then glued on.

She's so majestic and smooth looking, and damn that little sculpture under her forepaw is lovely.

I was wondering, how do you put the markings, like those flame looking designs, on your dragons? Hand-sewing them all on is such a tedious task, and I was curious if there was another easier and effective method.

I have a suggestion. If you have a decent camera, transfer the patterns to inch marked pattern paper. that way you can just photograph the pieces without having to scan them or shrink them to fit the scanner.

I draft my stuff in Illustrator so I can change the size whenever I like personally.

That is, if you are interested in giving out the patterns which I hope you are as I would LOVE to make my husband one of your adorable dragons.

I'm not the artist, but if she's busy then an easy way to tell you how to do claws like this is to model them with clay leaving them with a flat base and a bit of a rim, have a hole in the toe fabric and put glue on the rim, push the claw end through and let the glue stick to the fabric, then on the outside you won't be able to see the seam. It's the easiest way I can personally think of and how I did my fursuit claws :)
